Often, in times of abundance, we tend to take credit for our own prosperity and become proud and ascribe the reason for our prosperity and riches to the "deserved" results of our own hard work and cleverness. It is easy to get so busy collecting and managing wealth that we eliminate the need for the presence and the provision of God in our lives. But we must remember that it is God who gives us everything that we have. God is not moved by our actions. It is we that should be stirred by God's every move.
Even though we tend to think that it is our education, family upbringing, networking connections or Wall Street portfolio that makes us rich, Moses (in the Bible) says differently. He said that it is the Lord our God who gives us the power to become rich. "Rich" here means to be "in full supply, lacking nothing."
Even during tough economical downturns, we must trust in and rely on the fact that it is God who gives us the power to become rich. "Power" here is not the strength of man but the "ability" of God!
Like in the Bible, in the midst of great famine, God blessed Joseph with the power (ability) to become rich. His supply was great enough to feed and save an entire nation. The word blessed actually means to be empowered to prosper. This empowerment is when God's supernatural rests upon that which is natural. This empowerment is when man begins to do with God what man can't do alone.
God will work during these lean times by empowering His people. One great way of empowerment will be from the release of witty inventions and creative ideas. We must keep our ears and eyes open to strategic ways to remain afloat so we can operate on top.
